Frequently Asked Questions
- What is Botox cosmetic?
Simply put, Botox cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is designed for injection into specific muscles to temporarily reduce wrinkles. The effect is often dramatic, taking years off the face and restoring a more rested appearance. Botox cosmetic relaxes the muscles that create unattractive wrinkles by blocking motor/neuron impulses, while leaving natural and attractive facial expression intact. Botox cosmetic has been used by millions of women around the globe, and has a thirty-year history of medical use. The medical grade version of Botox is a modern miracle for many disease processes that create involuntary spasticity such as muscular dystrophy (including in children), crossed eyes, neck spasms, migraine headaches and more. - Doesn’t Botox have side effects?
Like any medical treatment, Botox has a full disclosure of potential side effects. While these side effects and adverse reactions do exist, they are very rare for the use of Botox Cosmetic. Botox Cosmetic is used in carefully selected doses for aesthetic improvement in persons in good health. Botox for medical use is used in far greater amounts in many body sites in patients with varying degrees of health. The FDA does not allow the makers of Botox to separate the potential and actual side effects of the medical grade use of Botox from the cosmetic grade use of Botox in their disclosures.
- How much do I need?
Each case is highly specific and non-transferable… As far as cost goes, it is reasonable to assume around 240.00 for a basic treatment of one area. Get a personal consultation to learn more about areas and rates, you will find Belinda Pate to be highly competitive.
- What about Dysport?
Dysport is a neurotoxin prescription medicine that is used for the same purposes as Botox cosmetic, in the same manner. It is a competitive, highly effective product that also temporarily dramatically reduces wrinkles. Read more about Dysport here.
Belinda Pate believes in choice and free enterprise; therefore we offer two equally great products to restore a youthful appearance.
- What are Dermal Fillers?
As we age, we lose collagen and elasticity in the skin, which causes deep folds and sagging. Dermal Fillers are biocompatible, injectable gels that create lift and add volume to key areas of the face that show signs of aging. They are selectively injected into the dermis with a fine needle; the results are instant, take 30 minutes are less, and the procedure is made comfortable with the use of lidocaine. Many clients enjoy a youthful look by filling in the folds around the mouth, restoring cheek height, refreshing lips and other areas. A good practitioner has an eye for details, knows anatomy well, and can help you set the clock back. Belinda Patte offers all major brands of dermal fillers so that each client has the choice for the best possible. Belinda Pate offers Juvederm, Voluma, Restylane Lyft, Refyne, Defyne, Vollure. At your consultation, your practitioner will go over your options and help you achieve the results you are looking for.
- How long do fillers last?
Because each face is so very different, each outcome varies. Most fillers advertise they last up to one year, however; this depends on the initial amount, age of the client, desired results and the depth of the folds and wrinkles. In general, fillers can last between 4 and 12 months, based on our personal experience.
- But I don’t want to look fake. Don’t those celebrities look awful with huge lips?
A small fraction of celebrities use a poor combination of bad plastic surgery, Botox and fillers to create an unnatural look. The thousands of celebrities that use medical aesthetics by experienced practitioners merely look young and fabulous! Done properly, no one needs to advertise his or her secret to looking young. Many clients decide to keep their choice of treatment very private, that’s why Belinda Pate NP specializes in a natural look.
- Do people bruise after dermal filler treatments?
Any time a needle is injected into the skin, there will be a chance of bruising. To decrease your chances of bruising, it is good to avoid blood thinning agents such as ibuprofen and aspirin for one to two weeks prior to your appointment. Always consult with your doctor before changing your medications if you are under a doctor’s care. At your consultation, benefits and risks will be discussed in detail.
- Can I work out or continue my normal routine after treatment?
You will be able to continue your normal routine; there is no “down time” for injectable treatments. Belinda Pate recommends, however, not to do highly vigorous exercise for 6 hours after treatment, as well as to avoid direct sun exposure. It is best to keep the head upright for 4 hours to allow the product to settle into the designated areas. It is best to discontinue the use of Retin A for three days before and after treatment, as well as to avoid deep exfoliation treatments for three days before or after treatments. A soothing facial is fine. You can apply makeup after treatment as you normally would.
- What about chemical peels?
If you are looking to shrink pores, improve skin texture, tackle acne scars, even out pigmentation, minimize fine lines and create a radiant glow, consider a chemical peel with Apeele. Belinda Pate recommends a good chemical peel three times a year to revitalize lackluster skin. It is not recommended to get a peel during the summer months. Laser centers push pricy packages that drag on for months to try to obtain the same results that Apeele can give you over a weekend; and at a fraction of the cost.
- What else do you offer to keep me looking young?
The eyes are the first thing people notice about you, and thick, long lashes speak volumes. Belinda Pate offers Latisse, the key to growing your own lush lashes. We also offer medical grade skin care that combats hyperpigmentation ageing with hydroquinone and other, quality medical grade ingredients
